Process to get MEA Apostille on your documents

In this blog post, I explain you the procedure to get apostille  on your documents, from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), of the Govt. of India. It’s primarily for students going to study abroad. But generally the procedure to apostille documents is same in most cases. In my experience, only two countries have apostille requirements for students going there to study – Austria and Italy. Before going further, please get a basic reading of what is apostille from the govt of India here. So, here are the steps: 1. State govt authentication The MEA will apostille your document only if you have the state (verification) authentication (from the respective govt of the sate where the document is issued) on your document which you want to get apostilled. Andhra govt. HRD/GAD/NRI attestation/authentication

In order to get apostille from MEA , you need to get authentication from AP govt if your document originated is issued in Andhra Pradesh. I will explain the overall process here for authenticating your degree certificate (if it is issued by a university in AP) and ICSE/CBSE certificates. Please note that you need to either have an admission letter/email from a foreign university or a job offer in case you are going abroad to work, as the official at the NRI dept. office will ask for it. Tamil Nadu (TN) HRD document attestation/authentication process

In order to get apostille from MEA, you need to get authentication from TN govt if your document originated is issued in Tamil Nadu. I will explain the overall process here for authenticating your degree certificate (if it is issued by a university in TN) and birth certificates. Please note that you need to either have an admission letter/email from a foreign university or a job offer in case you are going abroad to work, as the official at TN Secretariat will ask for it. Degree Certificate STEP – I: Go to DirectVerify and find your university . Register, upload your degree certificate, enter your details, pay money and submit it. Wait 2/3 days to a week. They’ll send you a mail about the result of your verification. If it is successful, download the PDF they provide which will have a verification seal at the bottom on both the pages of your degree certificate.
